这一题就是先说road can have harmful effects on the environment and seriously impact both animal life and plant life.(注意着句在but之后,非常的明显),然后开始解释是如何影响的,分别给出了例子yellow starthistle(植物)和 kit fox(动物)来支持论点。

In the lecture, the professor talks about road’s having harmful effects on both animals and plants. And she gives the following examples to demonstrate it. First, the professor  asserts that roads help plants move from one area to another, causing existing plants to complete with the new comer for resources. Then the professor cites yellow starthistle as a example. She says when yellow starthistle’s seed got stuck to the ties of the car and were distrubuted to the new area, they compete with the original plants, making it harder for native plants to survive.
Second, the professor argues that roads act as barriers for animals, proventing animals from acrossing the highways to find enough food to support themselves. Then she gives kit fox as an example. This kind of animal hunts on mice and squirrels which sprea out over large areas.Howvere, kit fox population has declined since road have been constructed in their native habitate, because they do not get enough food.
